March 24 — Brandon L. Fusaro-Podobensky, 26, of Grove City was charged with failing to return a chain saw he rented in January at Kenmac Rental & Sales on South Main Street. Police said Fusaro-Podobensky rented the 20-inch saw Jan. 23 for one day, but he did not return it. Store officials subsequently left a message on his phone and sent him a certified letter, advising him to return the property, according to court documents. The letter came back “unclaimed, unable to forward,” on Feb. 26. The business notified police March 9. Fusaro-Podobensky is charged with a first-degree misdemeanor count of theft of leased property.1:42 a.m. March 22 — Jamie K. Maga Jr., 33, of Butler was arrested for driving under the influence after a hit-and-run crash on the 200 block of South Main Street. Police allege he failed to stop after hitting a parked vehicle.The defendant was later pulled over traveling north on South Main Street. Police noted that his car had damage consistent with the earlier accident. He was eventually taken for a breath test that showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.140 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.Maga is charged with DUI and hit-and-run.2:18 p.m. March 19 — Hunter S. Dittmer, 21, of Butler was allegedly caught with marijuana and medication without a prescription after police stopped him walking on the 400 block of West Jefferson Street.Police said that while talking to Dittmer, they noticed a suspicious bulge in the pocket of his hooded sweatshirt. He pulled out a sandwich bag containing several pills. An officer searched him and found three baggies of suspected marijuana, according to court documents.He is charged with possession of a controlled substance and a small amount of marijuana.

11:52 a.m. Friday — David R. Stemmerich, 38, of Clintonville was arrested after he allegedly punched his 61-year-old father in the face and body several times on South Main Street in Harrisville. Stemmerich was arraigned on charges of simple assault and harassment, and he was placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bond.7:17 p.m. Thursday — An unspecified firearm was found in a yard on the 700 block of Mahood Road in Clay Township. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.6:37 a.m. Tuesday — No one was injured in a three-vehicle, chain-reaction crash on Route 68 in Forward Township. The wreck happened when a car driven by Scott J. Coari, 42, of Butler rear-ended a sport utility vehicle driven by Robert A. Black, 58, of Butler. The impact forced Black's vehicle into a car driven by Timothy J. Hennessy, 58, of Butler.1:53 p.m. March 16 — Jeffery J. Upton, 52, of Oakdale, Allegheny County, lost control of his Freightliner truck and struck a utility pole along Route 528 just north of Wahl Road in Forward Township. The pole snapped and caught fire, police said. Prospect volunteer firefighters put out the fire and a West Penn Power crew was called. Police cited Upton for driving too fast for conditions.
