March 9 — Gary L. McMasters Jr., 43, of Butler was charged with having drug contraband following a traffic stop last month on South Main Street. Police said they pulled him over about 3:15 p.m. Feb. 23 for running a stop sign at Shore and West Diamond streets.

McMasters was subsequently searched, according to court documents, and found with a crack pipe. He is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and a stop sign violation.

5:37 p.m. Thursday — A vehicle malfunction caused David P. Kiefer, 25, of Freedom, Beaver County, to lose control of his sport utility vehicle and hit a guardrail on Route 68 just south of Shannon Road in Connoquenessing Township.

5:12 p.m. Thursday — Dale P. Zacherl, 52, of Evans City was injured in a three-vehicle, chain-reaction wreck on Route 68 just south of Oak Drive in Forward. The crash happened when an SUV driven by Mason C. Deless, 26, of Butler struck the back of a car driven by Amy L. McLaughlin, 29, of Butler.

The impact forced the car into the back of Zacherl’s SUV. Police said McLaughlin and Zacherl were each coming to a stop when their vehicles were hit. Zacherl suffered minor injuries. Zacherl’s and McLaughlin’s vehicles had to be towed.

Police said Deless was cited for following too closely to another vehicle

8:58 p.m. Wednesday — One person was injured when an SUV driven by Lindsey A. Woroszylo, 34, of Ellwood City rear-ended an SUV on Route 422 just west of Pflugh Road in Franklin Township. David I. Jacob, 27, of Ellwood City was the other driver.

One of Jacob’s passengers, a 23-year-old Ellwood City man, suffered minor injuries but he refused medical treatment. Both vehicles had to be towed. Police said Woroszylo was cited for following too closely to another vehicle

7:19 p.m. Wednesday — Donald Josephs, 61, of Sarver was arrested after a domestic dispute with a 46-year-old woman at a home on the 200 block of Lardintown Road. He is charged with simple assault and harassment, and placed in the Butler County Prison

7:56 a.m. Wednesday — A pickup truck driven by Brice L. Carle, 46, of Portersville struck a commercial vehicle on Interstate 79 south in Jackson Township. Robert J. Bober, 54, of New Castle was the other driver.

No one was injured but Carle’s truck had to be towed. Police said he was cited for disregarding traffic lanes.

7:32 a.m. Wednesday — No one was hurt when a pickup truck driven by Colby J. Galeza, 18, of Cranberry Township struck a car while changing lanes on I-79 northbound in Jackson Township. Emily C. Sanders, 42, of Cranberry Township was the other driver.

The car had to be towed. Police said Galeza was cited for disregarding traffic lanes.

Tuesday — An unknown thief made off with two shovels, four rakes and a wheel barrow at a home on the 5300 block of McCandless Road in Center Township. The items are valued at a combined $313.

The victim, a 49-year-old man, told police that his neighbors reported hearing and seeing a loud, dark pickup truck, possibly a Dodge Dakota, pull into his property about 10 p.m. and then leave. Police noted that about 3 a.m. March 8, a truck ladder rack was stolen from the same property by someone in a truck matching the same description.

3:19 p.m. Tuesday — An SUV driven by a 17-year-old Evans City girl struck the back of a car on Route 68 just south of Double Road in Connoquenessing Township. The crash pushed the car, driven by Reva R. Cook, 32, of Coraopolis, Allegheny County, into another car, driven by Gregor J. Lassinger, 40, of Butler.

No injuries were reported. Police did not release the girl’s name. They said she was cited for driving too fast for conditions.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Kittanning[/naviga:h3]

5:28 a.m. Feb. 21 — No injuries were reported in a hit-and-run crash on Route 28 south in East Franklin Township. The collision happened when an unknown driver attempted to pass a pickup truck about one mile south of exit 19.

The pickup driver, a 58-year-old Kittanning man, followed the other vehicle before pulling over at exit 16.
