12:11 a.m. Wednesday — Marco A. Cantera Malagon, 22, of Pittsburgh was arrested for driving under the influence following a traffic stop on Cross Street. Police stopped him after seeing him earlier that night come out of a bar in the city apparently intoxicated, and warning him not to drive.

Cantera Malagon, following the stop, was taken for a breath test, which allegedly showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.124 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.

He was arraigned on charges of driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license-DUI related and driving with an open container of alcohol. He is free on $5,000 bail.

Police noted that Cantera Malagon has two prior convictions for DUI, in 2015 and 2018.

9:29 a.m. Wednesday — A truck driven by Nathan Clark, 23, of Boyers collided with a car on North Broad and North streets. Bethanie Slagle, 21, of Sandy Lake was the other driver. No one was injured, but Slagle’s vehicle had to be towed. Police cited Clark for making an improper left turn.

11:34 p.m. Feb. 12 — Police assisted state police in serving a warrant on a Butler County man at Grove City Medical Center. Jeffrey Lee Schaffer, 49, of West Sunbury was arrested on the warrant out of Butler County, and turned over to the sheriff’s deputies from Butler County.

9:27 p.m. Feb. 8 — Two people were injured when Kimberly A. Porter, 60, of Butler lost control of her SUV after pulling out of a driveway onto Rimp Road in Summit Township, and struck a large tree. Porter and her passenger, an 8-year-old girl, both suffered apparent minor injuries. The girl was in a safety seat.

Police cited Porter for driving too fast for conditions, driving an unregistered vehicle and not wearing a seat belt.

4:23 a.m. Feb. 8 — Susan M. Felker was cited for six traffic violations stemming from a two-vehicle, rear-end crash on Sunset Drive in Center Township. The wreck occurred after police say she left a pickup she was driving on the road, causing a car driven by Jacob A. Rettig, 27, of Butler to hit it. No one was injured, but the car had to be towed.

Police issued Felker tickets for abandoning a vehicle on a road, failing to immediately notify police of an accident, not using hazard lights, careless driving, disregarding traffic lanes and driving a vehicle without insurance.

1 p.m. Feb. 7 — Cody L. Hockenberry, 32, of Harmony was allegedly found with heroin and other contraband after police arrested him on an warrant on Route 19 in Muddy Creek Township. He was arraigned on misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and given a $5,000 bond in the case.

7:53 a.m. Feb. 7 — A pickup truck driven by Erika Geary, 54, of Harmony struck a tractor-trailer after sliding down the ramp while trying to merge onto Interstate 79 in Jackson Township. Mian S. Bashir, 46, of Ontario, Canada, was the other driver. No one was injured, but the truck had to be towed.

5:18 p.m. Jan. 29 — A car driven by Terry L. Batykefer, 62, of Butler struck a utility pole along Dinnerbell Road just east of Charlemagne Road in Jefferson Township. He said the crash occurred when he swerved to avoid hitting another vehicle stopped on the road in front of him.

Batykefer was not injured, but his car had to be towed. He was cited for disregarding traffic lanes.

5:01 p.m. Feb. 14 — No injuries were reported when an SUV driven by a 16-year-old Chicora girl rear-ended another SUV on Route 68 at the Sunoco gas station in Chicora. The crash pushed the second SUV, driven by Martha S. Denniston, 67, of Chicora into the business.

Police did not release the teen’s name. She was cited for driving too fast for conditions.

3:11 p.m. Feb. 14 — Edwin F. Christmann, 25, of Slippery Rock apparently fell asleep at the wheel and crashed his pickup truck into a fence and utility pole along Route 108 in Slippery Rock Township. He was not injured, but his truck had to be towed. Police cited him for driving on the wrong side of the road and disregarding traffic lanes.

12:40 a.m. Feb. 14 — Jessica Stewart, 33, of Cabot was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after a traffic stop on the 600 block of Bonniebrook Road in Summit Township.

7:21 p.m. Feb. 13 — A deer was blamed for a one-vehicle crash that left two New Castle men injured in Plain Grove Township, Lawrence County. The wreck occurred when the driver, Michael A. Bobosky, 25, hit the deer on Harlansburg Road, causing the truck to overturn.

Bobosky and his passenger, Bernard A. Bobosky, 46, suffered apparent minor injuries. The pickup had to be towed.

Feb. 13 — Three pieces of furniture were stolen from the bed of a pickup on the 400 block of Textor Hill Road in Forward Township. The theft occurred between 9:45 p.m. Feb. 12 and 12:15 a.m. Feb. 13.

The stolen property included a South Shore Tassio six-drawer double dresser valued at $190.81; a South Shore Tassio night stand valued at $72; and a Rest Haven headboard valued at $61. A police report noted the investigation continues, but it did not say if there are any suspects.

3 a.m. Feb. 8 — Police cited Eric M. Dodd, 21, of Bruin with nine traffic violations following a hit-and-run wreck on Hooker Road in Fairview Township. He is accused of fleeing after he crashed his pickup through a guardrail and into a brick wall. The truck ended in a creek bed. He was not injured.

Dodd is charged with hit-and-run, failing to immediately notify police of an accident, illegally abandoning a vehicle, driving on the wrong side of the road, disregarding traffic lanes, driving too fast for conditions, careless driving, improper display of a license plate and not wearing a seat belt.
