Nov. 1 — Police obtained an arrest warrant for Joseph Portera, 32, who has no known address, on charges he sent threatening text messages from Oct. 26 to 28 to an ex-girlfriend who lives on East Brady Street and to three of her neighbors.

Court documents said the former girlfriend was granted a protection from abuse order on Oct. 23 against the defendant. In some of the texts, police said, Portera refers to the PFA.

He is charged with four counts of terroristic threats and one count of harassment. Additionally, police said they filed a separate PFA violations against him.

1:20 p.m. Wednesday — A car driven by Kyle D. Spiegel, 40, of Renfrew collided with another vehicle at Whitestown and South Eberhart roads. Elisa Goldman, 24, of Butler was the other driver.No one was injured, but Goldman's vehicle had to be towed. Police cited Spiegel for failing to stop at a red light.1:50 p.m. Nov. 2 — One person was injured when a car driven by Dalton L. Miller, 27, of Butler struck another vehicle at Old Plank and Litman roads. David Zarnick, 65, of Butler was the other driver.Zarnick suffered a minor injury. Both vehicles had to be towed. Miller was cited for a stop sign violation.2:25 p.m. Oct. 31 — A vehicle driven by Levi Orloski, 20, of Butler rear-ended another vehicle on Route 68 near the VA Butler Healthcare rear entrance. Marsha Chiappini, 73, of Butler was the other driver.No one was injured, but both vehicles had to be towed. Police cited Orloski for driving too fast for conditions.12:03 p.m. Oct. 30 — Lori Randall, 61 of Butler was injured when her vehicle collided with another vehicle at South Eberhart Road and Route 68. Patricia Minor, 82, of Renfrew was the other driver. Randall suffered minor injuries, but she refused medical treatment. Her vehicle had to be towed.

12:14 a.m. Wednesday — Robert G. Stewart, 69, of Chicora was injured when he lost control of his car and struck a utility pole after crossing the double yellow line on Route 268 just east of Eldorado Road in Parker Township. Police said he was not wearing a seat belt and suffered unknown injuries.The Emlenton Volunteer Fire Department assisted police at the scene.Wednesday — An unknown thief stole a blue 2003 Dodge Ram pickup truck from Dale Hinds Auto Sales & Repair on Route 19 in Portersville. Police suspect the same person broke into a different pickup at the business and stole a Bear Archery Legion camouflage crossbow valued at $500.The truck and crossbow were taken between 7 p.m. Tuesday and 7:50 a.m. Wednesday. The truck's Pennsylvania license plate number is ZJD3008.Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.11:14 p.m. Tuesday — A car driven by Tonya M. Boyer, 46, of Butler struck the side of Rachel's Roadhouse on Route 19 in Springfield Township, Mercer County. Police said there were no injuries.9:48 p.m. Tuesday — A 60-year-old Pittsburgh man was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Interstate 79 south in Cranberry Township. A search of his car turned up suspected marijuana. Charges are pending lab results.4:33 p.m. Tuesday — A car driven by Patricia A. Hemshrodt, 48, of Butler struck a deer on Route 8 just north of Weeks Road in Brady Township.6 a.m. Tuesday — Someone reportedly entered a 61-year-old man's car in Muddy Creek Township and damaged the ignition. The car was parked on Badger Hill Road. Anyone with information is asked to call police.11:04 p.m. Monday — No one was injured when a sport utility vehicle driven by Eric R. Peoples, 26, of Volant, Lawrence County, pulled out and struck a tractor-trailer on West Park Road in Worth Township. Elmer H. Blinn, 68, of New Brighton, Beaver County, was driving the rig.The Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Company and Rescue Team and the Butler County Hazardous Materials Team assisted police at the scene.

5:28 p.m. Tuesday — Chance P. Kinser, 19, of Zelienople was injured when he lost control of his car and struck a utility pole and ditch along Route 58 in Delaware Township. Kinser, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Grove City Medical Center with unknown injuries.Police cited Kinser for disregarding traffic lanes and a no-passing zone violation.10:10 a.m. Sunday — Two boys escaped from the George Junior Republic juvenile detention facility in Pine Township. The youths, ages 15 and 17, both from Bucks County, were still being sought as of late Wednesday night.Police did not identify the boys, who are both charged in Mercer County juvenile court with escape.
