9:08 p.m. Jan. 4 — Derrick M. Johnson, 30, of McKeesport, Allegheny County, allegedly gave police a bogus name after a traffic stop at Main and Wayne streets. Police said they stopped the car that Johnson was riding in while conducting surveillance of possible drug activity on Third Avenue.

Police identified the driver and a rear-seat passenger. Johnson, a front-seat passenger, turned over a suspected marijuana cigarette, according to court documents.

Later, police discovered that the name the defendant gave them was not his. They eventually identified him by using social media.

He is charged with false reports and false identification to law enforcement authorities and possession of a small amount of marijuana.

Monday — Police obtained an arrest warrant for an Allegheny County man suspected in July of breaking into an auto garage in Buffalo Township and stealing property.

The defendant, Nicholas J. Gonzales, 31, of Natrona Heights, went into W.L. Roenigk Inc. on Ekastown Road between July 20 and 23 and took an inspection sticker and inserts.

Gonzales is charged with burglary, theft and receiving stolen property.

2:28 p.m. Saturday — William H. Barbary, 39, of Center Township was arraigned on a charge that he violated his wife’s protection from abuse order. He is accused of posting remarks about her on social media, court documents said.

Barbary is charged with indirect criminal contempt.

Jan. 3 — Brook A. Gill, 52, of Renfrew was charged with drunken driving stemming from a single-vehicle wreck last month in Center Township. Police said she fled the scene in her sport utility vehicle following the crash around 9:45 p.m. Dec. 23 on the 800 block of Mercer Road in front of the Community Alliance Church.

A man working at the church, according to court documents, reported he saw the vehicle travel across the church lawn and apparently hit a retaining wall. He made contact with her, but she drove away. Another church staff member, however, was able to provide police with the license plate number.

Police eventually found Gill, who acknowledged that she had consumed alcohol at a bar before the reported crash, documents said.

She was taken to the barracks for a breath test that indicated her blood-alcohol level was 0.106 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.

Gill is charged with driving under the influence, failing to keep right, disregarding traffic lanes, careless driving and failing to stop and give information or render aid after an accident.

Jan. 3 — Police charged Sydney J. Trufley, 23, of Oakland Township with DUI in connection with a November one-vehicle crash on the 700 block of Bonniebrook Road in Summit Township.

Police said no one was around when they arrived at the scene around 12:10 a.m. Nov. 8. The vehicle, according to court documents, smelled of marijuana, so troopers searched it and found a small box containing suspected marijuana and a marijuana pipe.

Troopers determined that the vehicle belonged to Trufley and they went to her home. She admitted to drinking and driving, documents said. A breath test subsequently showed her blood-alcohol level was 0.104 percent.

In addition to DUI, Trufley is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended license, disregarding traffic lanes, careless driving and failing to immediately notify police of an accident.
