Monday — Bethany L. Champ, 51, of Portersville was charged with being more than 2½ times the state’s legal limit for alcohol stemming from a two-vehicle crash last month in Muddy Creek Township.

Police said Champ about 11 p.m. June 16 was driving a car that struck the back of another vehicle on Route 422. She was “in and out of consciousness” when troopers got there, according to court documents, and rescuers had to extricate her from the car.

She was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries and a blood draw. Toxicology results subsequently showed her blood-alcohol level was 0.220 percent. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated.

Champ is charged with driving under the influence, following too closely to another vehicle and driving at an unsafe speed.

Ezatoff lives with the victim, who Monday reported the theft. She also told police that she found empty stamp bags of suspected drugs under her son’s bed and mattress.

The defendant is charged with access device fraud and possession of drug paraphernalia.
