Thursday — Thomas J. Martin Jr., 52, no known address, was charged with having a copper pipe that was reported stolen in February from a business on the 300 block of Center Avenue.

The owner of Seezox Hair Salon notified police Feb. 15, after finding the pipe missing from a heating, ventilation and air conditioning unit in back of the business.

Police went to a local recycling center and recovered the suspected stolen pipe there, according to court documents.

Police identified Martin from an out-of-state identification card that he used to sell the pipe. He is charged with receiving stolen property.

2:58 p.m. Sunday — Natasia D. Lang, 22, of Butler was caught with suspected crack cocaine after police say they spotted her trying to hide something while under the bridge near Quarry Street.

Police questioned her, according to court documents, and Lang admitted that she had a crack and a crack pipe in her pants pockets. The officer seized the alleged contraband.

Lange is charged with misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

11:07 p.m. Thursday — Vehicles driven by Justin E. Valensky, 27, of Renfrew and Deanna Jordan, 51, of Butler collided on Route 68. No one was hurt but Jordan’s car had to be towed. Police cited him for making an improper left turn.

Monday — Scott W. McLachlan, 48, of Jefferson Township was charged with drunken driving stemming from a traffic stop April 1 in Penn Township. Police said they pulled him over about 1:30 a.m., after he ran a stop sign on Beacon Road at Meridian Road.

McLachlan subsequently failed field sobriety tests and was taken for a breath test, which showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.143 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.

In addition to driving under the influence he is charged with a stop sign violation, failing to keep right and careless driving.

Monday — A Pittsburgh man was charged with making up a claim that his 6-year-old son had been abused last year in Butler County.

Police said their investigation, which began in October, found that the allegations made by Michael W. Hasch IV, 39, of Pittsburgh were “baseless.”

According to court documents, Hasch’s son lives with his maternal grandparents in Middlesex Township. When the defendant initially contacted police, he told them he had not seen his son in more than a year.

Hasch is charged with making a false report to law enforcement authorities and making a false report of child abuse.

11:30 a.m. Wednesday — James Johns, 38, of Adrian was arrested on an out-of state warrant and placed in Armstrong County Jail on $50,000 bail. He is being held on a fugitive from justice charge.

Police said the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force assisted in the arrest. Johns was wanted on the warrant out of Tangipahoa Parish in Louisiana.

6:11 a.m. April 7 — Austin J. Howard, 21, of Templeton lost control of his pickup truck on snow- and ice-covered Madison Road in Madison Township and struck a utility pole. He was cited for disregarding traffic lanes.
