Monday — Alyssa A. Clouse, 24, of Butler Township was charged with being three times the state’s legal limit for alcohol stemming from a fiery crash earlier this month on Belmont Road.

Police said they were called at 12:24 a.m. March 10 for a report of a car into a tree. An officer got there and found the car engulfed in flames with severe front-end damage. Two females were lying next to the vehicle on both sides of it.

The Butler Fire Department extinguished the fire. A Butler Ambulance Service crew tended to the females who were in “extreme pain,” according to court documents.

Police identified Clouse, one of the females, as the driver. She was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for her injuries.

At the hospital, documents said, the defendant told a nurse that she had been drinking before the wreck. Police on March 15 obtained a search warrant for her medical records.

Clouse’s toxicology reports showed her blood-alcohol was 0.241 percent. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.
