12:11 a.m. Monday — Joseph T. Bailie IV, 40, of Butler was arrested for being more than 3½ times the state’s legal limit for alcohol when he was stopped on Clinton Avenue for failing to clean the snow off his license plate.

Police noted that the pickup truck’s plate number was obstructed by snow, despite the weather being clear and no snowfall overnight.

Because of the icy conditions, police took Bailie back to the station to perform field sobriety tests. He badly failed one test, according to court documents, and told officers that he did not want to continue.

A breath test showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.298 percent. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated.

A subsequent inventory search of the truck, documents said, turned up suspected marijuana in the center console and a marijuana pipe on the passenger seat.

Bailie was arraigned on charges of driving under the influence, possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended license while his blood-alcohol level was 0.02 percent or greater and driving with an obstructed license plate.

He was released on his own recognizance following arraignment.

4:33 p.m. Sunday — Anthony J. Maffeo, 31, was arrested after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend, Kacey Blackwell, during a domestic dispute at his home on the 300 block of Oak Street.

Blackwell told police that Maffeo grabbed her by the hair and hit her head off the sink, according to court documents. Police said she suffered a bump on the forehead.

The defendant admitted he snatched the victim’s hair, documents said, and “took her to the ground.”

He was arraigned on a charge of simple assault and placed in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail.

Police found Beilstein following a two-hour search that began with a call for a man seen walking around a half dozen homes on the 100 block of Wise Road and on Bullcreek Road.

A homeowner out to walk his dog spotted the defendant and notified authorities.

Officers tracked Beilstein in the snow through woods and farm fields before nabbing him.

He was arraigned on four felony charges of trespass as well as six misdemeanor charges of loitering and prowling at night and other misdemeanor charges of agricultural trespass and criminal mischief.

Beilstein was placed in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail following arraignment.

3:31 a.m. Sunday — Jon T. Jackson, 20, of Butler lost control of his vehicle and crashed on Whitestown Road. He was not injured but his vehicle had to be towed. Police cited Jackson for driving too fast for conditions.

The truck, driven by Todd Dunlap, 20, of Parker, was pushed into another Century Link truck driven by Jonathan Pennington, 31, of St. Petersburg, Clarion County.

Police cited Bergbigler for driving too fast for conditions.

8 p.m. Monday — An unidentified vehicle sideswiped a car on Interstate 79 north in Muddy Creek Township and did not stop. Shawn M. Forsythe, 31, of Slippery Rock, who was driving the car, a 2017 Toyota Corolla, was unable to provide a description of the other vehicle.

Forsythe earlier that day was involved in a one-vehicle wreck on I-79 in Lancaster Township. Police said he lost control of his southbound car, a 2015 Honda Civic LX, shortly before 1 p.m. and hit a guardrail. He was not injured but his car had to be towed.

Police cited him for driving too fast for conditions and not wearing a seat belt.

His blood-alcohol level was found to be 0.211 percent. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated.

Police said Kniess’ pickup truck ended up in a ditch following the crash at Oak Hill and Pleasant Valley roads. No one was in or at the truck when police got there.

Kniess failed field sobriety tests and was taken for a breath test, which showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.093 percent. The limit for DUI is 0.08 percent.
