Friday — Austin J. Rusch, 23, of Butler was charged with having drug contraband earlier this month on the 400 block of North Chestnut Street. Police said they were responding to a burglary call about 7:16 p.m. Dec. 3 when they came upon him.

Rusch was carrying a back pack but he had no identification, according to court documents, and he would not tell police what he was doing in the area. He matched the description of the suspected burglar.

A search of his back pack turned up three empty stamp bags of suspected heroin, documents said, as well as a pipe with suspected cocaine residue.

Rusch is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Dec. 7 — Police charged Andrew K. Olczak, 20, of Winfield Township with possessing THC extract and LSD stemming from a call earlier this month for a man believed to be unconscious in a vehicle on Brown Avenue.

Officers said they had to knock on the driver’s side window several times before Olczak awakened. He appeared “very confused,” according to court documents, but he denied having been unconscious. He said he was waiting for a friend who lives nearby.

When police asked to see his driver’s license, documents said, he handed them two pieces of wax paper that contained suspected THC, which is the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana.

Again, police asked to see his license. This time, police said, he handed an officer a plastic bag that contained a small piece of aluminum foil, which had a single sheet of suspected LSD paper in it.

He eventually provided his license, documents said, after police asked for it a third time.

Olczak is charged with possession of a controlled substance and public drunkenness.
