Nov. 15 — Police cited Marriah P. Monteleone, 25, of Oakland Township for four traffic violations stemming from a two-vehicle wreck earlier this month on the 200 block of North Monroe Street.

Monteleone is accused of crashing into a parked SUV about 3:15 p.m. Nov. 6. She told police that the crash happened when she attempted to avoid another vehicle traveling the other way.

She is charged with driving with a suspended license, driving at an unsafe speed, driving a vehicle without insurance and driving without valid inspection.

2:33 p.m. Nov. 12 — One person was hurt in a two-vehicle crash at East Jefferson and Franklin streets. The wreck happened when a car driven by Kristin M. Baker, 42, of Butler turned and collided with a vehicle driven by Richard C. Blews, 31, of Petrolia.

Blews, who was wearing a belt, suffered an apparent minor injury.

6:17 p.m. Nov. 7 — Sport utility vehicles driven by Dana C. Fair, 53, of Butler and Barbara Maciejewski, 56, of Penn Township collided at North Main and West Brady streets. Police cited Fair for failing to stop at a red light.

6:22 p.m. Monday — A vehicle driven by Randy L. Scott, 60, of Renfrew rear-ended another vehicle on Route 68 at Linsdale Drive. The other driver, John Huba Jr., 76, of Butler, was stopped and making a left turn.

Both drivers were checked out by a Butler Ambulance Service crew but neither was taken to the hospital. Both vehicles had to be towed. The crash closed the road for about 30 minutes.

Police cited Scott for driving at an unsafe speed.

1:26 a.m. Sunday — Two teenagers and a 20-year-old were caught intoxicated in a vehicle at the Sam’s Club parking lot at Moraine Pointe Plaza. Charged with underage drinking are Christopher A. Rensel, 20, a 17-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl, all of Butler. Police did not identify the youths.

9:53 p.m. Friday — Rachel M. Allio, 36, of Slippery Rock was caught allegedly failing to scan 16 items, valued at $129,37, while using the self-checkout register at the Butler Commons’ Walmart.

Allio, who has two prior shoplifting convictions, is charged with a felony count of retail theft.

6:03 a.m. Sunday — A car driven by Andrew J. Rosol, 33, of Kittanning struck a deer on Route 422 west of Clearfield Toad in Clearfield Township.

12:21 a.m. Sunday — A New Jersey man was arrested for drugged driving on Old Plank Road. Police said they pulled over Mason W. Seipp, 21, of Flanders for driving a car with an expired registration.

Police smelled a “strong odor” of marijuana coming from the vehicle, according to court documents, and Seipp admitted smoking the drug.

A search of the car turned up about 12 grams of suspected marijuana, THC powder, and several Xanax bars, which are bundles of the anti-anxiety drug packaged and shaped in bars.

Police also seized a marijuana grinder, a drug-smoking pipe, bond, rolling papers and other drug-related items.

Seipp is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, possession of a small amount of marijuana, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving a vehicle without valid inspection and careless driving.

He was arraigned on the charges and released on $1,500 bail.

3:15 p.m. Friday — Tomika R. Cottrill, 36, and Theresa A. Horniacek, 52, both of Butler were arrested for allegedly trying to hide a wanted man from police at Horniacek’s home on Third Street.

Troopers went to the home looking for Christopher Gratzinger, 30, of Butler Township, who was wanted on a bench warrant. But when troopers tried to speak to him, he ran into the house, according to court documents.

Police repeatedly knocked on the door and identified themselves, but no one answered from inside. Troopers even used a public address system on their patrol car.

Police eventually forced their way inside. Gratzinger was arrested. Cottrill and Horniacek were also at the home.

Both women were arraigned on a charge of hindering apprehension or prosecution. Cottrill was placed in the Butler County Prison on $2,500 bail. Horniacek is free on her own recognizance.

Nov. 22 — Police charged Jamel A. Barnes, 27, of Karns City with drugged driving and having drug contraband in connection with an August stop for speeding in Brady Township. He was pulled over, court documents said, for traveling 65 mph in a 55 mph zone about 11:20 p.m. Aug. 25 on Route 8 near the Old Stone House.

Police said that when Barnes opened the center console to get his insurance and registration information, they saw a baggie of suspected marijuana. He was subsequently arrested after failing field sobriety tests.

Toxicology results from a blood test found he had marijuana in his system, documents said.

Barnes is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, speeding, driving without a license, driving with an open container of alcohol, careless driving and not wearing a seat belt.

A front seat passenger, Donte A. Brandon, 22, of Butler was found with a half-smoked marijuana cigarette, documents said. He is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Nov. 21 — Two Ohio men were charged with having drug contraband in connection with a traffic stop earlier this month in Butler Township.

Paul J. Kern Jr., 37, and David A. Robb, 28, both of East Palestine are both charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Kern also is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana.

Police said they stopped the car Nov. 12 on Route 422 for an unspecified traffic violation. Kern, who was riding in the back seat, was found with a container that had suspected THC wax in it, according to court documents.

Robb, also a rear seat passenger, was found with a marijuana pipe.

Monday — Police reported that felony assault charges are pending against an Armstrong County Jail inmate accused of slapping a corrections officer in the face Nov. 17 and attempting to poke the officer in the eye.

Authorities did not immediately identify the officer, a 24-year-old Fenelton man, who apparently was not injured, or the inmate, a 23-year-old man.

8:14 p.m. Sunday — Donna M. Elkin, 35, of Kittanning allegedly failed to scan items at the self-checkout registers at the Hilltop Plaza Walmart in East Franklin Township. Elkin faces a charge of retail theft.

6:24 a.m. Sunday — Michael Chelko, 58, of Saver lost control of his sport utility vehicle and crashed into a parked car and a basketball hoop on Stangler Drive just east of Ekastown Road in Fawn Township, Allegheny County.

Chelko’s vehicle continued into an embankment before ending up in a home’s driveway.

7:41 p.m. Saturday — A 17-year-old Freeport girl was found with suspected drugs and other contraband during a traffic stop on Route 28 south in Harrison Township, Allegheny County. Police did not identify the girl, who is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
