12:29 a.m. Monday—David R. Camp Jr., 28, was arrested after he allegedly his fiancee, Chelsea Rowe, during a domestic dispute at their apartment on Third Street.

Rowe told police that Camp grabbed the back of her head and slammed her forehead off of the sink, according to court documents. He is accused of pulling out dresser drawers and tossing items around the apartment.

The alleged victim left the home and went to the Eau Street Cafe. She later returned and tried to pick up the mess the defendant made. But, documents said, he again got angry and pushed her to the floor. She again left the apartment.

Police said Rowe had injuries consistent with her account, including a red mark next to her left eye and a scratch on her forehead.

Officers arrested Camp at his home, where they also found amongst the tossed items, two marijuana pipes that they say belong to him.

He was arraigned on charges of simple assault and possession of drug paraphernalia, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $2,500 bail.

1:28 a.m. Friday—Anthony J. Maffeo, 31, of Butler was arrested for driving under the influence on North Elm Street. Police said they pulled over Maffeo after they saw him slam on his brakes at one stop sign at East Brady and Franklin street and fail to stop at another sign at East Brady and North Elm streets.

He admitted that he had “a few” beers, according to court documents, and he failed field sobriety testing. A breath test subsequently showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.221 percent, A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.

Maffeo is charged with DUI and two stop sign violations. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.

[naviga:h3]Butler Twp Police[/naviga:h3]

Monday—David A. Hill, 29, of Connooquenessing Township was charged with having marijuana and other contraband last month outside a convenience store on Center Avenue.

Police said Hill pulled up in a car next to a police office at the Sheetz. The officer smelled marijuana when Hill and his passenger gout out of the vehicle, according to court documents.

When Hill returned to the vehicle, police confronted about the odor. He subsequently admitted that he had a little bit of marijuana and a pipe on the center console. The officer seized the items.

He is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

8:02 p.m. Sunday—April D. Hemphill, 32, of Brady Township was caught allegedly under-ringing merchandise while shopping with her 9-year-old daughter at the Butler Commons’ Walmart. She is accused of under-ringing $182.62 in grocery items at the self-checkout registers.

Hemphill told police that she did not have enough money for all the items in her shopping cart, according to court documents. Police noted that she has two prior shoplifting convictions.

She is charged with a felony count of retail theft. Additionally, police said that she was given a trespass letter from Walmart.

2:57 p.m. Friday—Farrah L. Scott, 32, who is homeless, was arrested for felony shoplifting after being stopped allegedly trying to make off with $1,183.98 in merchandise at the Butler Commons’ Walmart.

Scott, who has two prior shoplifting convictions, was arraigned on a felony count of retail theft and placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail.

Police noted that Scott has been barred from all Walmart and Sam’s Club stores.

6:48 p.m. Monday—A deer was partially blamed for a rear-ended crash on Route 28 south near exit 16 in Buffalo Township.

The wreck happened when Betsy A. Dempster, 43, of Sarver hit the brakes of her sport utility vehicle when she saw a deer crossing the road. A 17-year-old Sarver boy who was traveling behind the SUV was unable to stop his pickup truck in time and hit the back of the other vehicle

Dempster, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered a possible injury, according to a police report, but she did not need hospital treatment. Police cited the boy, who they did not identify, for following too closely to another vehicle.

Nov. 6—Alejandro Pantoja, 22, of Butler was charged with drunken driving in connection with a disabled motorist call last month in Slippery Rock Township. Police said they found him about 2 a.m. Oct. 14 on the side of Route 173 near Harmony Road.

Pantoja acknowledged he had consumed a can of Four Loko, an energy drink that is 12 percent alcohol, according to court documents, before he drove off the road and hit a log.

He failed field sobriety testing and was taken to the barracks for a breath test, which showed his blood-alcohol was 0.210 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.

In addition to DUI, he is charged with disregarding traffic lanes.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Clarion[/naviga:h3]

6:48 a.m. Monday—Ernest W. Switzer, 24, of Parker was injured when he lost control of his pickup truck and crashed on East End Road in Beaver Township Police said the eastbound truck struck an embankment and rolled over, landing on its roof and partially blocking the westbound lane.

Switzer, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries to his forehead. He was taken to Clarion Hospital for treatment. Police cited him for driving at an unsafe speed and disregarding traffic lanes.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Kittanning[/naviga:h3]

3:34 p.m. Monday—One person hurt in a six-vehicle, chain-reaction crash in O’Hara Township, Allegheny County. The wreck happened when an unidentified speeding vehicle attempted to change lanes in front of another vehicle on Route 28 north.

The driver of the second vehicle applied the brakes, causing a series of rear-end collisions involving vehicles driven by Wesley L. Coffman, 42, of Freeport; Herman W. Doms, 54, and Richard T. Lucas, 63, both of Vandergrift, Westmoreland County; and Marla R. Werner, 42, of Pittsburgh.

Werner, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered an apparent minor injury. Police said the unknown driver of the second vehicle fled the scene after the crash.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Mercer[/naviga:h3]

3:50 p.m. Nov. 8—Four unknown black females are suspected of stealing a variety of youth clothing, worth about $200, at the Adidas store at the North Face store at Premium Outlets in Springfield Township.

The shoplifting incident, which remains under investigation, was captured on store security footage.

8:16 p.m. Nov. 4—Three shoplifters made off with an estimated $2,000 in merchandise at the Nortface store at Premium Outlets in Springfield Township. The items taken included clothing such sweatshirts and jackets.

Police said the unknown suspects, described as a black male and two black females, was caught on store surveillance video. Police said the investigation continues.
