May 30 — Police charged an Ohio woman with bouncing a $2,500 check that she wrote to an attorney in March. Patricia A. Koonse, 48, of Lisbon is accused of writing the check March 16 on a bank account that did not have sufficient funds.

The victim, Stephen Misko, later sent the defendant a certified letter seeking payment, according to court documents, but to no avail.

Koonse is charged with a first-degree misdemeanor count of bad checks.

1:05 p.m. Friday — Jenna R. Glass, 27, of Mars was arrested for drunken driving after a three-vehicle, chain-reaction crash on Heritage Creek Drive.

Police said the wreck happened when Glass’ car struck the back of another vehicle, which was pushed into the back of the third vehicle. The two rear-ended vehicles were stopped at a red light at Heritage Creek Drive and Route 228.

The defendant, who smelled of alcohol, later failed field sobriety tests. She refused to submit to a blood test.

Glass was arraigned on charges of driving under the influence, driving at an unsafe speed and careless driving, and placed in Butler County Prison on $2,000 bail.

1:19 a.m. Saturday — A vehicle driven by Sean Weaver, 20, of Butler struck a utility pole along North McKean Street. He told police he fell asleep at the wheel.

3:17 p.m. Friday — Vehicles driven by Cody R. Southworth, 26, of Fenelton and Christopher Hatcher, 42, of Butler collided on Route 356 by the Butler Crossing shopping center. Police cited Southworth for making an improper left turn and driving a vehicle without insurance.

11:03 a.m. Thursday — A vehicle driven by Melissa J. Janczura, 46, of Ford City, Armstrong County, and a vehicle driven by Samuel Zurzolo, 78, of Butler Township collided at Benbrook Road and Greenwood Drive. Zurzolo, a township commissioner, suffered minor injuries. Janczura was cited for a stop sign violation.

10:04 a.m. Thursday — One person was hurt when vehicles driven by Jessica L. Born, 18, of Butler and Dale Bergbigler, 50, of Hilliards collided at New Castle and South Duffy roads.

Bergbigler’s passenger, Tracy Bergbigler, 50, of Hilliards, suffered a back injury. Police cited Born for driving at an unsafe speed.

4:31 p.m. Wednesday — A car driven by Krissy Fisher, 37, of Butler rear-ended another vehicle on Meridian Road. No one was hurt but Fisher’s vehicle had to be towed. Veronica Wolbert, 49, of Butler was the other driver.

Monday — Police are seeking the public’s help in trying to find the whereabouts of a car that was borrowed from the owner in Clearfield Township more than five weeks ago and has not been returned.

The vehicle is described as a dark brown Buick Lucerne with the Pennsylvania license plate DKG8213.

The 38-year-old owner told authorities that he has not seen the car since April 30 when he gave it to someone, who police did not identify. Police said they are investigating the matter as a case of unauthorized use of a vehicle.

7:22 p.m. Friday — Barbara A. Ghering, 29, of West Sunbury was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after she crashed her sport utility vehicle on Main Street just south of Halston Road in West Sunbury. Police said their investigation continues.

May 30 — Kirk R. Rekasie, 20, of Evans City was charged with having drug contraband a week after a two-vehicle crash on Route 422 in Franklin Township.

During a search of his vehicle, court documents said, police found a stamp bag of suspected heroin and four used needles. He is charged with five counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.

2:50 a.m. May 29 — A Pittsburgh man was arrested for drunken driving following a one-vehicle wreck last month in Slippery Rock Township

The suspect, Nathaniel J. Sedlack, 23, lost control of his car on Route 108 and struck a ditch. Police said while speaking to Sedlack they smelled alcohol and suspected he was impaired, according to court documents.

The defendant, who admitted that he had been drinking that night, was eventually taken for a breath test, which showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.188 percent — more than twice the state’s 0.08 percent legal limit.

In addition to driving under the influence, Sedlack is charged with disregarding traffic lanes, driving at an unsafe speed and careless driving.
