Butler Police

Monday — Jennifer E. Thomas, 27, of Butler was charged with having drug contraband stemming from a call last month for a possible overdose in the 400 block of South Washington Street.

Police found Thomas and a man inside a car parked on the street April 29.

The defendant was in the driver’s seat. On the driver’s floor, according to court documents, officers could see a purse with several syringes in it.

Police awakened both occupants and searched the purse, which was found to contain 10 syringes, two empty stamp bags of suspected heroin, a metal spoon and a crack pipe.

Thomas is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

10:13 p.m. Monday — Fritz F. Nickle, 52, of Jackson Township was arrested on charges he assaulted his girlfriend as the couple drove on Route 19.

Police suspect the victim, Stephanie Bengoa, 45, of Rochester, Beaver County, was driving the car when Nickle, a passenger, assaulted her.

Afterward, according to a police report, the defendant later jumped out of the vehicle, which was apparently still moving.

Bengoa a short time later flagged down an officer and reported what happened. Police said she had marks on her face and neck.

Police drove back to where the suspected assault happened and found Nickle lying in the weeds along Route 19 near Mercer Road.

He was arraigned on charges of simple assault and harassment, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail.

Monday — Douglas S. Good, 55, of Butler was charged with drunken driving stemming from a traffic stop last month in Slippery Rock Township.

He was pulled over about 10 p.m. April 21 after police saw him driving erratically on Route 8 near Route 173, court documents said.

Good smelled of alcohol and he appeared impaired. He was arrested after failing field sobriety tests. A breath test later showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.115 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.

Good is charged with driving under the influence, careless driving disregarding traffic lanes and failing to keep right.
