1:35 p.m. Sept. 18 — Police said Daniel L. Panei, 54, of Butler was charged with drunken driving after his vehicle hit three parked cars on two city streets.

Police said Panei was westbound on West Wayne Street at South Washington Street when he struck a parked car, pushing it into a utility pole. The suspect’s vehicle continued west and moments later hit a second car, according to a police report.

Panei drove away and about two minutes later, police said, struck a sport utility vehicle parked on the 500 block of West New Castle Street. The crash pushed the SUV about eight feet and onto a curb, damaging the curb.

Police were called to the second crash scene where they found the suspect, who was taken for a breath test. The test showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.23 percent, the report said, nearly three times the state’s legal limit,

In addition to driving under the influence, Panei is charged with two counts of hit-and-run. He also was cited for reckless driving.

Police said Crawford allegedly provided false information on a federal form that was required April 22 when he attempted to buy a .380-caliber Ruger at Dick’s Sporting Goods at the Greenwood Plaza.

When his information was entered into the Pennsylvania Instant Check system, an automated system by which gun dealers can determine if someone can legally buy a gun in the state, he was denied the purchase.

Crawford is charged with unlawfully attempting to buy a firearm, a felony, and unsworn falsification to authorities, a misdemeanor.

Police suspect Guy in October 2015 opened an account at the Butler Armco Employees Credit Union with $14 and immediately began writing checks worth well more than the balance.

His actions, according to court documents, indicated “the account was opened with criminal intentions.”

Between Oct. 19 and 26, he passed the six bogus checks at four stores, police said. The thefts amounted to $575

Additionally, Guy on Oct. 16 wrote a phony $300 check to an alleged accomplice, who cashed it at a bank at Point Plaza.

Wednesday — Police charged Jeffery M. Moser, 56, of Worth Township with deliberately swerving his sport utility vehicle into the side of another vehicle earlier this month in Worth Township.

The alleged victims — Jesse J. Panei and Leigh A. Fulmer — told police that they were driving west behind Moser on Route 108 about 9 p.m. Sept. 17 when they noticed his SUV “all over the road,” court documents said. He also allegedly kept “brake checking” them.

The victims recounted that the suspect eventually stopped on the side of the road and they passed him. They said Moser drove back on the road and turned on his high beams while now behind the victims’ car.

The pair said the suspect traveled into the eastbound lane and intentionally swerved in their car, documents said. Moser drove away but the victims were able to get his license plate number, which they passed on to authorities.

Police about 10 p.m. went to the defendant’s house on McCracken Road, where they found him. Police said he smelled of alcohol and admitted that he had been drinking at a bar that night. He said that when he got home he consumed more alcohol.
