4:12 a.m. June 2 — Eric A. Kradel, 33, of Butler was arrested after he allegedly smashed the glass out of a front door of a home on Euclid Avenue and assaulted 38-year-old Stephanie Barber of Butler.

Police were called to the home and found Kradel, dressed only in a pair of shorts, holding a tire iron and bleeding from his arms, legs and feet.

Barber told police that the suspect choked her and threw her against the front wall earlier that morning, according to court documents.

Kradel was arraigned on charges of simple assault and simple assault. He is free on his own recognizance.

1:04 a.m. Sunday — Michael W. Daugherty, 49, was arrested after he allegedly burned his girlfriend, Rebecca Howes, with a cigarette during a domestic dispute at their home on Bessemer Avenue in Lyndora.

Howes told police that she and Daugherty were in the bedroom watching television and playing the guitar when they got into an argument. The suspect is accused of pressing a lit cigarette against Howes’ upper right arm, according to court documents.

Police noticed a small burn mark on the victim’s arm while speaking to her at a home on Penn Avenue, where she went after the suspected assault.

Officers went to the couple’s home and found Daugherty, who denied burning his girlfriend.

District Judge Sue Haggerty arraigned Daugherty on charges of simple assault and harassment. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $2,000 bail following arraignment.

Thursday — Police filed felony and misdemeanor drug charges against Anthony M. Puglisi, 25, after officers on June 3 found a suspected marijuana plant and 94 empty bags of suspected heroin in the basement of his Linhurst Avenue home in the township’s Highfield section.

Police were initially called to the home for a domestic dispute.

Puglisi was arraigned on charges of manufacture of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is free on his own recognizance.

[naviga:h3]Cranberry Twp Police[/naviga:h3]

Saturday — Jessica L. Locke, 28, of Wampum, Beaver County, was arrested stemming from a shoplifting incident earlier this year at the Walmart on Route 19.

Police allege Locke on March 15 took a child’s play yard, valued at $159, and a short time later returned the merchandise for a store gift card. The suspected theft and false return were captured on store surveillance video.

District Judge Sue Haggerty arraigned Locke, who has at least two prior shoplifting convictions, on a felony count of retail theft. She also is charged with misdemeanor counts of access device fraud and theft by deception.

The defendant was placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail following arraignment.

6:59 p.m. Friday — An Ohio man was arrested after he failed to return a company vehicle. When officers found the suspect, Matthew J. Sharp, 35, of Leetonia, they also found him with suspected heroin and marijuana.

Police started looking for Sharp after Eugene Goebel, owner of Rockstar Subscription, reported that one of his new employees had taken a vehicle without his permission, according to court documents.

Officers eventually tracked the vehicle to the Oaktree Plaza on Route 19, where he admitted taking the company car. Sharp admitted taking the vehicle, documents said, “to go see his mother.” He claimed Goebel knew about his plans.

Goebel, however, denied the defendant’s account. He also reported that one of his company’s cell phones and a credit card were missing and that it had an unauthorized $100 charge on it.

Police said a later search of the car that Sharp was driving turned up the cell phone and credit card. Also in the vehicle was a bag of suspected heroin and marijuana, two syringes and other drug contraband.

District Judge Sue Haggerty arraigned the defendant on charges of unauthorized use of a vehicle, possession of controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, possession of a small amount of marijuana, and driving without a license.

Sharp was placed in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail following arraignment.

[naviga:h3]Grove City Police[/naviga:h3]

Thursday — An unknown vandal threw eggs, salsa and other substances on two vehicles that were parked in the 500 block of Liberty Street. The vandalism happened between 3:30 and 5:30 a.m. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-458-7925.

June 13 — A thief stole a package, delivered by the U.S. Postal Service, that was left at the front of a home in the 200 block of South Broad Street. The package contained a cell phone valued at $150. A police report did not indicate if there are any suspects.

6:53 p.m. June 12 — Joseph H. Armstrong, 19, of Oakdale, Allegheny County, was caught with suspected marijuana following a traffic stop at North Broad Street and Gilmore Avenue. Armstrong is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Police also cited him for driving without rear lights.

10:40 p.m. Thursday — Jeremy R. Yenick, 22, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after he crashed his pickup truck into a tree along Eagle Mill Road in Center Township

In addition to DUI, Yenick faces tickets for driving at an unsafe speed, careless driving, disregarding traffic lanes, driving on the wrong side of the road and not wearing a seat belt.

Thursday — Police charged John C. Grupp Jr., 49, of Harmony with illegally attempting to buy a firearm Jan. 23 at the Rural King store at Clearview Mall in Center Township. Grupp is charged with making a false statement under penalty of law on his application to buy the gun.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Clarion[/naviga:h3]

Sunday — Police reported they are investigating a reported case of child sexual abuse between May 1 and June 1. The alleged sexual assault between a 20-year-old Clarion man and a 15-year-old Clarion girl occurred at several areas in Clarion County.

Police said their investigation continues and they did not identify the suspect.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Mercer[/naviga:h3]

Friday — An unknown vandal slashed all four tires of a 49-year-old Mercer man’s car that was in the parking lot of the Comfort Inn on Garrett Drive in Springfield Township. The vandalism happened between 6:30 and 10:30 p.m. Damage was estimated at $500.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Kittanning[/naviga:h3]

3:25 a.m. Saturday — Zachary E. Knize, 22, of Kittanning was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence at the Hilltop Plaza in East Franklin Township.
