Ronald Riede

Ronald F. Riede Sr., 79, of Grove City passed away peacefully at 11:45 a.m. Sunday in the Trinity Living Center after a lengthy illness with his loving family around him.

He was the son of the late Milton Riede and Elda Leri Riede of Townville.

Ronald worked for his father, Milton, who was a heating contractor. They installed the heating systems in many of the schools and hospitals in the area.

He was a great sports enthusiast. He loved playing golf, basketball and table tennis. For many years, he was the Little League manager in Grove City. Some of his interests were ham radio, oil painting and fishing.

Ronald graduated from Townville High School in 1953. He went to Carnegie Mellon University for two years.

After college, he became a journeyman plumber. He later went to Youngstown State University to study mechanical design. After completion of his courses, he got his first job as a heating and air conditioning draftsman for F. E. Sturgeon Engineering, Grove City.

He married Phyllis Jennings from Cooperstown on Oct. 22, 1955.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis, at home; his four children, Ronald F. Riede Jr. and his wife, Cynthia of Crossville, Tenn., Jason D. Riede and his wife, Sandy, of Crawfordsville, Fla., Vicci L. Franz and her husband, Matthew P., of Pittsburgh, and Dr. Lisa Riede and her husband, Matthew Beatty, of Williamsport; his seven grandchildren, and his five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Riede— Visitation hours for Ronald F. Riede Sr., who passed away Sunday, March 15, 2015, will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Cunningham Funeral Home, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City. Additional visitation will be from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary of Grace Catholic Church, 1085 Water St., Meadville.A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the church with Father Matthew Kujawinski officiating. Burial will be in Rose Lawn Cemetery, Meadville.
