City man to serve time for DUI convictions
A city man with a handful of drunken driving convictions will serve time in prison.
Danny M. Bragg, 36, of West Cunningham Street pleaded guilty to his fourth and fifth DUIs and two counts of driving with a suspended license.
He was sentenced Thursday by Butler County Judge Timothy McCune to serve an accumulative 18 to 36 months in prison followed by 42 months of probation.
Additionally, Bragg was ordered to pay $4,000 in fines, attend a victim impact panel and log 100 hours of community service to include a session with the litter pick up crew.
Court records say these two arrests occurred in the city on Jan. 9, 2011, and Feb. 5, 2011. Court records say Bragg’s previous DUI arrests occurred in 1996, 1997 and 2006.
For sentencing purposes, the law weighs more heavily the number of convictions that occurred in the past 10 years. Because both of these convictions were sentenced on the same day, they both count as a second conviction in 10 years.
In court, Bragg presented the judge letters written on his behalf by his employer and counselor.
