QUESTION: Why are you running for a seat?REEDER: As a lifelong resident of Clay Township, I'm running for supervisor because I care about the community. I'd like to help see that it remains a family friendly and affordable place to live.SPEICHER: I want to take an active role in my township to deal with local issues and concerns. My goal would be to assure the supervisors create a budget that is manageable, but also to attempt to remain under budget. I would further ascertain that the township budget be apportioned on needs versus wants. I've lived in Clay Township all my life; I am a homeowner and taxpayer. I have a current CDL license and experience working with machinery. I believe with this experience, along with my goals, I would prove to be an asset to the township.QUESTION: What are the top three issues facing your municipality?REEDER: Some immediate issues facing the township are rising health care costs and acquiring funding for the repair or replacement of two bridges. The township must also continue to spend wisely while still maintaining its roads, park, municipal building and equipment.SPEICHER: 1. The major issue of importance in a municipality is developing and managing a balanced budget, particularly as unexpected expenses come into play.2. The township has 43 miles of roads, and it's vital to maintain their safety.3. Residents' needs and requests. Each resident has the equal right to be heard and to receive a response to his/her concern in a timely manner.
