Monday — Police reported that two men face theft-related charges after they were caught June 28 riding on an all-terrain vehicle and allegedly scrapping for metal on the Butler-Freeport Community Trail.Charged with theft, receiving stolen property and trespass by vehicle, according to a police report, are Brian Lahey, 35, and John Hufnagel, 33, both of Butler.1:20 p.m. Sunday — A15-year-old boy was injured in an assault near the EZStop convenience store at Main and Penn streets. The boy told police an unknown white male hit him in the face.The boy was treated at Butler Memorial Hospital for unknown injuries.The suspect is described as 5 feet, 10 inches tall with brown hair. He was wearing a white ball cap, tan shorts and a blue T-shirt. Police said the suspect could be driving a silver vehicle.Anyone with information about the case is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.
2:14 a.m. Sunday — Bryan Byers, 30, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence at Route 8 and Pepperland Boulevard.
6:13 p.m. Monday — David Leroy Yockey Jr., 45, of Buffalo Township was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Monroe Road.9:48 p.m. Sunday — David Ostrowski, 43, of Natrona Heights, Allegheny County was arrested for suspicion of DUI on Route 28.12:28 a.m. July 21 — John Andrew Newell, 24, of Center Township was arrested for suspicion of DUI on Route 356.
July 28 — Adrian R. Beck, 19, of Grove City was charged with forgery and receiving stolen property for allegedly forging Nancy Beck's signature on a check that was stolen from Candace Ries, also of Grove City.July 26 — Police received a report of a burglary in the 400 block of North Broad Street between July 25 and 26. The burglars pried open a door at a business and entered, then attempted to take cash but no money was found. Nothing is reported missing.7:22 p.m. July 23 — Sheila Hollabaugh of Grove City reported a bike was stolen from her residence. Shortly after, a 15-year-old juvenile was charged with theft by unlawful taking.July 20 — Joe Lemmons Jr., 29, of Mercer was arrested for driving under the influence following a traffic stop at the intersection of Erie Street and Edgewood Avenue in Grove City.July 18 — William Romanko, 73, of Kennerdell was charged with retail theft at BiLo Food Market. Romanko took $7.19 of food and attempted to leave the store without paying for the items.
4:50 p.m. Monday — David M. Courson, 24, and Brooke M. Donelson, 23, both of Butler were arrested following a domestic dispute at a Haylees Lane home in Summit Township. Police said both suspects face charges of simple assault and harassment.9:17 p.m. Sunday — Michelle L. Ball, 25, of West Sunbury was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after her car crashed on Route 8 in Center Township.10:18 a.m. Sunday — Two Westmoreland County men were injured, one seriously, in a two-vehicle collision at Route 8 and Ralston Road in Slippery Rock Township.Police said the crash occurred when Brian J. King, 19, of Greensburg, driving a sport utility vehicle and traveling north on Route 8, entered the southbound lane and tried to pass three vehicles.King's SUV struck the front, driver's side of the front vehicle, an SUV driven by Jacqueline Beatty, 67, of Slippery Rock, who was attempting to turn left onto Ralston Road.King's vehicle, after the collision, hit a guardrail before becoming airborne and slamming into a tree over an embankment.Robert A. GeislerII, 20, of Jeannette, a passenger in King's vehicle, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital and later flown by medical helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh with internal injuries.King was treated at the Butler hospital for a broken left wrist. Police said Geisler was wearing a seat belt; King was not. Police said King was cited for reckless driving and a number of other unspecified traffic violations.Sunday — Two cash registers were taken in an overnight burglary at King Cones Castle on Route 68 in Connoquenessing Township.Saturday — An unknown thief between July 1 and Saturday stole a catalytic converter from a vehicle on Driftwood Drive in Jefferson Township. David Neese of Saxonburg owns the stolen property, which is valued at $400.7:30 p.m. Friday — Michael S. Saper Jr., 16, of Hilliards was seriously injured when the speeding minivan he was driving crashed and rolled over on Route 138 in Washington Township.Investigators suspect the van was traveling between 64 and 68 mph when Saper lost control while cresting a hill.The teen, who was wearing a seat belt, was flown by medical helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh with head injuries. Police said he faces charges for driving too fast for conditions and a lane violation.5:05 p.m. Friday — Pickup trucks driven by Harold J. Ritzert, 82, and Candace Zendron, 37, both of Chicora collided on Route 68 in Oakland Township.2:39 a.m. July 13 — Brian T. Byerly, 25, of Butler was arrested for DUI on Route 422 about one-half mile west of Butler Township.In addition to drunken driving, Byerly is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, an open container violation, careless driving, a lane violation and not wearing a seat belt.
