Monday — Police reported Basil A. Luchkiw, 27, of Butler faces misdemeanor assault and other charges stemming from an altercation at the American Legion on South Main Street.Luchkiw is accused of hitting Glenn Birch, the post's commander, in the head with a beer mug, according to a police report. He also allegedly punched Birch.Birch was treated at Butler Memorial Hospital for unknown injuries.Other patrons at the bar, meanwhile, were able to restrain the suspect outside until police got there. Police said Luchkiw faces charges of simple assault, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.

4:26 p.m. Sunday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Lynn Marzullo, 43, of Butler and a pickup driven by William Grannis III, 37, of New Castle collided at Route 422 and Heinz Road. Marzullo and an 8-year-old boy riding in the truck suffered unknown injuries. The boy was taken to Jameson Hospital in New Castle.8:49 p.m. Friday — An SUV driven by Marci West, 43, and a van driven by Kristan Semmler, 31, of Butler collided on Township Line Road.5:40 p.m. Friday — A red and black, 1993 Honda CR125 dirt bike was stolen from an outbuilding on Bredin Avenue in Lyndora.5:17 p.m. Friday — Richard Safranek III, 20, of Butler was cited for defiant trespass at Wal-Mart in Butler Commons. Safranek was previously banned from the store.11:45 p.m. Thursday — Jesse Lee Kelly, 29, of Renfrew was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence in the parking lot at the Days Inn on Route 8 South.

8:53 p.m. Monday — A car driven by Cheyenna Irwin, 26, of Grove City struck a guardrail after sliding off George Junior Road.

9:45 p.m. Monday — A car driven by Jannis R. Peterson, 21, of Pittsburgh crashed into a guardrail along Interstate 79 in Cranberry Township.6:10 p.m. Monday — A pickup driven by Rose M. Walter, 64, of Ellwood City and a car driven by Erick Widenhofer, 18, of Butler collided on Route 8 near Volkswood Drive in Center Township.12:37 a.m. Sunday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Cody D. Celestin, 52, of Butler struck a street sign before getting stuck in a snow bank on Route 8 near Volkswood Drive in Center Township.1:15 a.m. Saturday — Andrew D. Rihn, 24, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his pickup struck a tree along West Road near Valencia Road in Forward Township.Feb. 5 — Police charged Bradley Scott Cramer, 21, of Butler with felony theft for allegedly stealing a $405 Sony PlayStation 3 video game system from a Legion Alley home in Chicora last month.Cramer is accused of taking the property, owned by his cousin in, Nicole Plyler, on Jan. 31 during a visit, according to court documents.

4:19 p.m. Feb. 4 — Stanley Smith, 29, of Parker was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence at Route 68 and Tower Road in Porter Township.State Police, Kittanning5:10 p.m. Monday — A car driven by Zachery Rantane, 37, of Saxonburg struck a fire hydrant along Route 128 in South Buffalo Township. Police said Rantane was cited for driving too fast for conditions.12:04 p.m. Sunday — Therapon D. Alpentzou, 31, of Freeport is accused of punching 24-year-old Angelina Varos of Freeport during an altercation at a High Street home in Freeport.Alpentzou fled the home before troopers got there. Police said they obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect on a charge of simple assault.
