6 students get scholarships
Butler Health System and the
Butler Memorial Hospital Auxiliary awarded six scholarships of $1,000 each to students pursuing advanced education in the health care field. This year's recipients were Jonathan Burns, Victoria Green, Sarah Haseltine, Ashley McKinney, Erica Miller and Renee Watson.Burns is the son of John and Elaine Burns or Chicora. He recently graduated from Karns City High School and plans to attend St. Francis University to become a physician's assistant. His dad, John, is a pharmacist at BMH.Green is the daughter of Daniel and Maryann Green of Butler. She graduated from Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School and will attend the University of Pittsburgh to study dental hygiene. She was a member of the Junior Auxiliary at BMH.Haseltine is the daughter of Thomas and Jacqueline Haseltine of Butler. She recently graduated from Butler High School and is planning to attend Butler County Community College to pursue a degree in nursing. She served as a member of the Junior Auxiliary at BMH.McKinney is the daughter of Ronald and Pamela McKinney of Butler. She has been a member of the Junior Auxiliary at BMH for two years and she recently graduated from Butler High School. She plans to attend Butler County Community College to pursue a degree in nursing. Her mom, Pamela, works in the MICU at BMH.Miller is the daughter of Michael and Carla Miller of Butler. She graduated from Butler High School and is planning to attend Duquesne University to become a physician's assistant. Her mother, Carla, was a physical therapist at BMH for many years. She was also a member of the Junior Auxiliary.Watson lives in Evans City and works at Butler Health System in preadmission testing and the Transitional Care Facility. She is currently a student at Waynesburg University, where she is pursuing a bachelor of science degree in nursing.
