Clarence Brown principal earns award for leadership
GROVE CITY —
Kristen Salina, principal of the Clarence Brown Community School, was presented with the 10th annual Leadership Award on Feb. 25 at the Midwestern Intermediate Unit board of directors meeting.The award honors an individual who fosters and promotes the vision of a regional educational agency. Salina was selected by a committee of her peers.Salina was honored for her work with the staff and the students at Clarence Brown, which serves 60 students in an emotional support program from these school districts: Butler, Karns City, Lakeview, Mars, Moniteau, Seneca Valley, Slippery Rock and South Butler.Salina also is the principal of the Intermediate Unit programs at the Mars Home for Youth and the Irene Stacy Partial Hospital program.Before joining the Intermediate Unit, Salina was a teacher/coordinator in the learning support and emotional support programs in the South Butler School District. Earlier, she worked at the Butler County Children's Center and the Pressley Ridge Day School in Pittsburgh.Last fall, Salina was elected president of the Junior Women's Club of Butler for the 2008-09 year. Her other professional memberships include the National Association of Elementary and Secondary School Principals.Salina lives in Butler with her son, Matthew.
