PROSPECT — Former Slippery Rock resident and author Kate Forrest will be at the Prospect Area Library, 357 Main St., from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday to do a book signing and talk briefly of her travels in Scotland and the inspiration for her work.

Her novel, “The Crusader's Heart,” was released in September from the Wild Rose Press.

MERIDIAN — The Meridian Veterans Club Auxiliary, 125 Vets Club Road, is selling a limited number of tickets for its New Year's Eve dance.

There will be snacks, dinner, dancing, a professional dj, door prizes and a 50/50 raffle with doors set to open at 6 p.m. Monday.

JEFFERSON TWP — Those of retirement age with an interest in learning are invited to attend any of the classes being scheduled for 2019 through Concordia Institute for Lifelong Learning in cooperation with the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Pittsburgh.
