Josephine “Grandma Jo” A. Gall
Josephine “Grandma Jo” A. Gall, 88, of Butler passed away Wednesday evening at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born Sept. 21, 1928, in Karns City, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Florence Barone Muto.
She was a homemaker, and a member of Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church.
She was formerly employed at Bobbie Brooks and at Mine Safety Appliances, but it was the 17 years that she spent working at Kiddie City Day Care that she enjoyed most of all.
As a devoted and loving grandmother and great-grandmother, “Grandma Jo” found the perfect job. She delighted in the children placed in her care, playing with them, singing with them and nurturing them. She truly adored children, and her affection for young people extended well beyond her own loving family and provided some of her happiest memories.
She enjoyed cooking and baking and having her family and friends around her. An avid bird watcher, she found great pleasure in both observing live birds and reveling in her collection of bird figurines. She also was a Steelers fan and a most loyal Pirates fan. Her allegiance to the Pirates was so complete that she would turn down social invitations so as not to miss a game broadcast.
She is survived by two sons, Richard D. Gall and his wife, Rita, of Butler and William L. Gall and his wife, Mary, of Butler; two daughters, Jo Anne “Sis” Pinto and her husband, John, of Renfrew and Diana L. Salisbury and her husband, Roy, of Moon Township; one brother, Samuel Muto of Butler; two sisters, Louise Olenic and her husband, John, of Butler and Frances Draper, of Butler; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard A. Gall, who died Oct. 25, 2013; two brothers, Angelo Muto and Robert Muto; and one sister, Betty Muto.
