PITTSBURGH — A Beaver County man pleaded guilty Tuesday to robbing four banks, including one in Cranberry Township.

Patrick Acierno, 34, formerly of Freedom, pleaded guilty to four counts before Senior U.S. District Judge Donetta W. Ambrose.

U.S. Attorney Scott Brady of the Western District of Pennsylvania said Acierno robbed the PNC Bank at 20940 Route 19 in Cranberry on Sept. 12, 2018, stealing $2,474. On Nov. 12, 2018, he robbed the West View Savings Bank in Wexford of $4,406.

Then, on Dec. 5, 2018, he robbed the WesBanco Bank in Monaca of $11,800. And on March 5, he took $7,743 — including eight $20 bait bills — from the KeyBank in Ingomar.

As Acierno ran from the KeyBank, one of the tellers observed him getting into a blue Toyota RAV 4, according to police and court records. Franklin Park Police later identified the Toyota RAV4, and apprehended the defendant after a brief vehicle chase.

Inside the vehicle, law enforcement officials found the items Acierno wore during the robbery and $7,743 in cash, including the bait bills from the Key Bank.

Sentencing is scheduled for 11 a.m. Oct. 17. Acierno could face 20 years in prison, a $250,000 fine or both under federal sentencing guidelines. He will remain in prison without bail pending sentencing, Brady said.
