Between 6 and 8:30 p.m. Tuesday — Someone ran over a mailbox valued at $100 at 1061 Kittaning Pike Road in Fairview Township. The property is owned by Dennis Berteotti, 48.1:05 a.m. Thursday — Debra Marinello, 52, of Boyers will be cited for speeding and a stop sign violation after she drove her GMC Jimmy through the stop sign on Route 108, across both lanes of traffic on Route 8, through a guard rail and into a farmer's pasture in Slippery Rock Township. Marinello's vehicle had severe front end damage.10:53 a.m. Friday — A Chevrolet Malibu driven by Shannon Porter, 24, of 490 Great Belt Road, Butler, collided with the rear of a truck towing a utility trailer that was stopped to make a turn on Route 356 at Burtner Road in Jefferson Township.Porter was not injured, but her passenger, 25-year-old Jessica Pisoni of Virginia, suffered minor injuries.The truck's driver George Roth, 83, of Volant, Lawrence County, also was not injured.Porter was cited with careless driving.12:24 a.m. Friday — Jack F. Bollinger III, 37, of Butler was charged with drunken driving and possession of a small amount of marijuana after a traffic stop on West Cunningham Street.Between 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 a.m. Friday —- Someone took a silver, 2003 Chevy Silverado truck from the driveway of Bradford Vinroe, 58, who lives in the 500 block of Unionville Road in Franklin Township. He owns the truck.Witnesses have since reported seeing an unknown white man driving the truck in the Butler Township area.Aug. 20-28 — Someone took seven garden gnomes valued at $76 from the garden of Dorothy Ekas at 215 Kittaning Street, Chicora.August — These people were stopped and cited for speeding in excess of 30 miles per hour over the speed limit:Matthew Foringer of Butler, driving 104 in a 65 mph zone.Kelly Pointer of Pittsburgh, driving 95 in a 65 mph zone.Mark Mansfield of Slippery Rock, driving 102 in a 55 mph zone.Albert Medina of Butler, driving 92 in a 55 mph zone.Steven Gromley of New Kensington, Allegheny County, driving 87 in a 55 mph zoneAnthony D. Serafine of Butler, driving 87 in a 55 mph zoneChristopher M. Park of New Castle, Lawrence County, driving 86 in a 55 mph zoneJames W. Plunkard of Fenelton, driving 84 in a 50 mph zoneNicholas G. 5:48 p.m. Friday — Arthur Day, 37, was charged with reckless endangerment, aggravated and simple assault.City police arrested Day after an anonymous caller saw him and Paula Carben, 35, near the parking lot of the Arbors Apartment Building on Lincoln Avenue.When approached by police, Carben had blood on her face, left hand and clothes. She told police Day had struck her in the nose with a bottle of vodka, then poured the vodka onto her clothing and tried to light it with matches.Carben was treated at Butler Memorial Hospital for her injuries.Day was arraign and jailed in lieu of $50,000 bond.Both Carben and Day live at 155 Avena St., Apt. 2.
Monday — Police are investigating damage to a building at 216 S. Broad St. Vandals reportedly caused extensive damage by kicking out the balusters to the stairwell, which leads to second floor apartments and to Dotty McGill's Dance Studio.Aug. 27 — Police arrested Ronald William Lavery, 55, no address available, on a warrant for retail theft out of Butler County. Lavery was arrested following a traffic stop on Liberty Street and turned over to the Butler County Sheriff's Department.Aug. 25 — Zachery Mellring, 19, of Barmore Avenue and a 16-year-old Grove City male were charged with burglary and related charges from an Opre Avenue break-in on Aug. 18. Sometime between Aug. 18 and Aug. 23 a set of women's golf clubs and a pair of men's sunglasses were stolen from inside unlocked vehicles on Tidball Avenue.Aug. 17 — Police recovered a small walkie-talkie, an MP3 player and numerous CDs, which were reported stolen from vehicles parked near the VFW on Blaire Street. Anyone missing the items from their vehicles should call Grove City Police.Aug. 17 — Police received a report of a theft from a motor vehicle, which is thought to have occurred near the Forker Field House on Walnut Street between 9 and 9:30 p.m. Aug. 16. A wallet, cell phone, and prescription medication were taken in the incident.Aug. 17 — Police arrested Jesse Craig Underwood, 19, of College Avenue for receiving stolen property, stemming from a theft of a motor vehicle on West Washington Boulevard Aug. 16.Aug. 14 — Police are investigating the theft of a Rockford amplifier/speaker set from a vehicle on Rebecca Avenue. The system is valued at $700. Also reported stolen from vehicles on the same street were a Sony digital camera/camcorder and assorted CDs, as well as West Virginia and Steelers Championship ball caps.
