The Butler Health System has seen a slight increase in COVID-19 patients and reported the death of two patients as statewide cases and deaths also rise.

The health system on Monday reported having 24 COVID patients, an increase of three since last week, including three in intensive care at Butler Memorial Hospital, and four patients, an increase of two, including one in intensive care, at Clarion Hospital.

Butler Memorial Hospital reported that two patients died on Aug. 30 following the death of a patient last week.

The health system announced that its COVID-19 testing site at 304 Delwood Road reopened Tuesday because of the rise in cases.

Appointments will no longer be required and walk-ins are welcome. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to noon. The site will be closed Sept. 6 in observance of Labor Day.

All COVID-19 tests require an order from a physician. People without a primary care provider should contact the BHS Care Center at 833-602-2273 for assistance.
