CHICORA — Three criminal cases against a Fairview Township man are going to court.

The defendant, Shawn M. Myers, 44, waived his right to a preliminary hearing Tuesday on charges state police filed at the office of District Judge Lewis Stoughton in Chicora.

Myers is being held in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail in connection with the separate cases. He is also being held on a probation detainer out of Clarion County in another criminal case.

Police said Myers was wanted on an arrest warrant stemming from a May domestic violence case when they spotted his pickup truck around 10:30 a.m. Friday traveling on Troutman Road in Fairview Township.

He was stopped a short time later in the driveway at his Red Bud Road home. Police suspected he was impaired, according to charging documents, and they eventually took him to the barracks for a breath test.

Myers' blood-alcohol level was allegedly determined to be 0.088 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.

He was arraigned later that day on charges of driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license.

The previous day, police were at the defendant's home, where they were called for a reported domestic incident.

The alleged victim, Myers' girlfriend, told troopers he punched her in the head and face and threatened to slit her throat, documents said. Police noted the 41-year-old woman had cuts on her face and bruises on her left arm.

Myers is also accused of slashing three tires on the victim's vehicle.

He was arraigned Friday on charges of terroristic threats, simple assault, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, harassment and driving with a suspended license in connection with the June 6 incident.

Police last month charged Myers with simple assault and harassment for allegedly punching his girlfriend during an incident May 19 in Bruin.

On Tuesday, he waived charges in all three cases to court. Stoughton in turn agreed to reduce his bail from $50,000 to $10,000. But Stoughton also set pretrial release conditions for him.

Myers is required to report to the county probation office upon getting out of prison. He also is required to abstain from alcohol and drugs and undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation.

Additionally, among the other conditions, he was ordered to wear an alcohol-monitoring bracelet.

Public defender Ryan Helsel, who represented Myers at Tuesday's court proceedings, declined to comment on the charges.
