Mercer Road closing for repairs
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is closing Mercer Road in Butler until Aug. 2 to repair an embankment failure. The road closed Monday and will reopen Aug. 2 to allow for repair of damage caused by an embankment failure and to stabilize the road's shoulder. Mercer Road will be closed from Mercer Street to Memorial Drive in the city.

Mercer Road, Route 4001, closed Monday and will reopen Aug. 2 to repair damage caused by an embankment failure and to stabilize the road's shoulder. Mercer Road will close from Mercer Street to Memorial Drive in the city.
PennDOT construction crews began work on Mercer Rd. in Butler Monday (near Memorial Park). An official onsite said the work is slated to be complete by Friday, Aug. 2. Crews will be reenforcing the slope below the road and above Memorial Park.
