Ronald Cassius Armitage, 60, of Butler has died in his home.

Born July 11, 1948, in Corry, he was the son of the late Rev. Cassius Armitage and the late Margaret Armitage.

Ron died after a hard-fought battle with a lengthy illness.

He was a loving and devoted father to his two children, Rachel and Rudy.

Ron was a retired counselor and worked for several years for many local human service agencies.

His generous spirit reached out in love to many people, helping them to enrich their lives though acceptance and support groups. His passion was for the Grapevine, Salvation Army and the homeless of Butler.

Ron is survived by his daughter, Rachel Armitage Brown and her husband, Michael, of Falls Church, Va.; his son, Rudy Armitage of Butler; his former wife, Jane Armitage and her family; three sisters, Joyce Renicks of Franklin, Tenn., Beverly Fenstermaker of Butler and Deborah Solari of Butler; one brother, Dale Armitage of Cecil; and many nieces and nephews who loved him deeply.

Ron was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Armitage; and brother-in-law, Michael Solari.

<B>ARMITAGE</B> — Friends of Ronald Cassius Armitage will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home Inc.</B>, 124 E. North St. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the service being led by his family.
