Acts of vandalism at BC3 cost $1,500

BUTLER TWP — Butler County Community College has estimated that the vandalism over the Memorial Day weekend has cost the school about $1,500.

Jess Matonak, interim director of communications and marketing, said that vandals spray-painted signs, construction equipment and a BC3 vehicle along with tipping over a port-a-potty and throwing around outdoor patio tables and chairs.

The school has cleaned off all of the graffiti, which included some paint on the steps and stone wall of the Heaton Family Learning Commons, which is under construction.

President Nick Neupauer said campus police had reviewed footage from the colleges 30 surveillance cameras and that Butler Township police are assisting with the investigation.

Matonak said the college would not disclose any possible leads or suspects in the case since it is still an open investigation.

The college has asked that anyone who saw suspicious activity on campus between 11 a.m. May 28 and 9 a.m. May 30 to contact the BC3 police.
