The coroner was called to a crash between two tractor trailers Wednesday morning, Sept. 30, on Interstate 80 westbound near its interchange with I-79 in Finley Township, according to Mercer County Emergency Services dispatch recordings.

One person was reportedly ejected from a vehicle in the crash, emergency services said at the scene. Emergency personnel reported one tractor trailer was on its side with a “high-volume” leak. The crash occurred between 9 and 9:30 a.m. at mile marker 19 on I-80 west.

A portion of I-80 west is closed at the I-79 interchange and will remain in effect until the scene is cleared, according to Jill Harry, the press officer for PennDOT District 1.

Traffic is being detoured using I-79 southbound to Route 422 westbound.

A separate section of I-80 west in Venango County between exits 42 and 35 is also closed due to an unrelated crash earlier today.

A medical helicopter was requested to the mile marker 19 crash but later canceled, and the coroner was called. There was no information on other potential injuries.

Coroner John A. Libonati and Troop D Public Information Officer Bertha Cazy were not immediately available for comment.
