Julie Pfahler of Fenelton, daughter of Bob Pfahler and Ginny Harmon, has been accepted to and recently began studies at Mount Holyoke College.A graduate of Karns City High School, she has been named to Who's Who Among American High School Students and was a member of the National Honor Society.---

<b>Jacob Edmonds</b>, a student at Moniteau High School, has been named a commended student by the National Merit Scholarship Program.---

Knoch High School students <b>Arthur Black</b> and <b>Stephen Edwards</b> have been named commended students by the National Merit Scholarship Program.---

<b>Joshua Gerstel</b>, son of Kimberly Castle of Pittcaren and Timothy Gerstel of Evans City, recently received an Ernest W. Johnson scholarship at Clarion University.A senior graphic arts major, he is a graduate of Butler High School.---

<b>Brianne Fogarty</b>, daughter of Timothy Fogarty and Bridget Fogarty, recently received a Special Education Endowment scholarship at Clarion University.A freshman majoring in special education, she is a graduate of Freeport High School.---

<B>Mallory Daniels</b> of Butler recently received the William and Olive Barnes and Ruth N. Pici scholarships at Clarion University.A freshman accounting major, she is a graduate of Butler High School.---

<b>Shane Killian</b>, son of Thomas and Susan Killian of Slippery Rock, has been named an Alden Scholar by Allegheny College for the 2004-05 school year.A junior at Allegheny, he is currently attending Lancaster College in England as part of a study abroad program.A 2002 graduate of Slippery Rock High School, he is majoring in political science.---

<b>Jessica Snyder</b>, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Snyder of Butler, is currently participating in a study abroad program in Bologna, Italy.A junior classical studies and Italian studies major at Dickinson College, she is a graduate of Butler High School.---

Several students at Center Township Elementary School in grades 2 and 3 were recently recognized for reaching their reading goals for the past summer.The school's Parent Teacher Organization provided funding for the books, and the students who reached their goals received gift certificates donated by local businesses.Students recognized included <b>Jordan McCall, Ariana Jones, Katie Leibler, Anthony Marzullo, Elizabeth Tosi, Noah Fallecker, Christian Valecko, Chloe Bowser, Matthew Wetzel, Haley Jewart </b>and <b>Alexis Schmeider</b>.---

<b>David Kline</b>, a student at Indiana (Pa.) University, recently graduated from the Army ROTC Leader Development and Assessment Course at Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Wash.The 2002 alumnus of Seneca Valley High School is the son of Robert and Tonette Kline of Zelienople.
