Man sentenced for spitting on horse
An Allegheny County man charged with spitting on a police horse during Slippery Rock University homecoming festivities in October, pleaded guilty and was sentenced in Butler County Court on Wednesday.
Donte L. Broadus Jr., 22, of Braddock, pleaded guilty to summary disorderly conduct and was immediately sentenced to pay court costs and a $50 fine by President Judge Thomas Doerr.
Broadus was also initially charged with felony illegally taunting a police animal after an incident on Oct. 15 in Slippery Rock Township. That charge was dismissed as part of the plea.
State police charged Broadus after they say he spit on one of the horses from the state police Tactical Mounted Unit that was patrolling The Heights at Slippery Rock apartments during the celebration.
Before the incident, according to court documents, police and apartment security officers had told Broadus to leave several times.
