A Renfrew man was entered into the county Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program on Wednesday, after being charged with peeping into windows of a home in September.

Ronald R. Worst, 70, was placed into the program for 18 months of probation by Butler County President Judge Thomas Doerr on charges of felony criminal trespass and misdemeanor loitering or prowling at nighttime.

Doerr also ordered that if there is no violations and all criteria are met, the program can be terminated after a year, and that Worst complete any recommended counseling and treatment by the Butler County Adult Probation Department and pay court costs.

Worst was also initially charged with two other loitering counts as well as misdemeanor stalking, after an incident Sept. 3 at a home in the 400 block of Meridian Road.

Butler Township police said Worst peered into the windows of a woman's house on three different nights in August and September.

Police said the victim reported Aug. 11 that someone had been in her house, after returning home and discovering that her doors had been unlocked.

She told officers that due to her concern she changed her locks and installed a surveillance system at her home, according to court documents.

The victim reported seeing a man walking outside her house on Sept. 8. Police reviewed the woman's surveillance footage but the video was “not clear enough” to identify the suspect, documents said.

The security camera, however, subsequently captured images of Worst on Sept. 11 and 13 walking around the outside of the home.

On at least one of those nights, police said, he “can be seen looking in the windows of the residence.”

The woman told officers that she was afraid and that she “could no longer focus and was always on edge,'' according to a police affidavit.

Police said Worst during an interview admitted being at the woman's home on Sept. 8, 11 and 13 but was not able to give a good reason for being there.
