Matthew Allen, son of Jim and Cindy Allen of Chicora, has been awarded the Meritorious Service Award from Ohio Northern University.Arecent graduate of Karns City High School, Allen plans to major in pre-law/business and participate in the baseball team at the university.During high school, Allen was active in the National Honor Society, Peer Leadership, Big Brothers, Big Sisters and the school's baseball team.———The
Future Farmers of America group of Moniteau High School recently competed in the state-level competition at Penn State University, earning several medals.In the Agricultural Salesmanship competition, eighth place and a silver medal were awarded to
Jesse Campbell.
Matthew Zanella was awarded 18th place, earning a Bronze Medal. Also competing among the 56 contestants were
Blake Lambermont and
Ben Thompson.Earning bronze medals in the Wildlife category were
Jeremiah Barnhart, who took 34th place, and
Tyler Sutton in 35th place out of 113 contestants.
Amber Foulk and
Josh Muir also competed in the category.
Carissa McGinnis took 48th place out of 91 contestants in the Livestock Judging category.In the Tractor Driving category,
Derek Stewart took eighth place, earning a bronze medal.
Travis Steele earned a gold medal, placing eighth in the public speaking category.———
Ryan Koch, son of Kent and Anne Koch of Harmony, has been named vice president of Northwood University's Student Government Association for the 2006-07 school year.An automotive marketing, banking and finance major, he is also a recent recipient of the Michigan Campus Compact Heart and Sole award.———
Katherine Stenner of Mars, a senior at Grove City College, was recently honored with the Lambda Epsilon Delta Award during Recognition Convocation at Parents' Weekend.This award is presented to the outstanding senior who is a member of Lambda Epsilon Delta, the elementary education honorary.She was also inducted into the Beta Mu circle of Omicron Delta Kappa National Honor Society.———
Barbara Scheffler of Butler, a senior at Grove City College, was recently honored with the Panhellenic Sorority Senior Woman Scholastic Award.A silver bowl with the winner's name inscribed on it is presented to the senior sorority member with the highest academic standing.———
Jenna Hayes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Hayes of Butler, received the Outstanding Junior Major Prize for communication arts at the annual Honors Convocation held at Allegheny College recently.Hayes, a graduate of Butler High School, is a communication arts and psychology major at the college.———
Katie Koch, daughter of Kent and Anne Koch of Harmony, a third-year photography student at Rochester Institute of Technology, is the winner of the 2006 Fuji Scholarship.An advertising photography major, Koch's portfolio was honored among those submitted by students from the School of Photographic Arts and Sciences.Koch, is a 2003 graduate of Seneca Valley High School.———
Brian Blose, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Blose of Mercer, received the Computer Science Faculty Prize at the annual Honors Convocation held at Allegheny College recently.Blose, a graduate of Knoch High School, recently completed a degree in computer science.
