Flames destroyed a mobile home on Golden Lane in Franklin Township Friday night. The homeowner escaped unharmed.

FRANKLIN TWP — A man escaped unharmed from his trailer after it caught fire around 9 p.m. Friday on Golden Lane.

Prospect Volunteer Fire Department Chief Ken Wilson said the home, at Mount Chestnut Mobile Homes, was burning when firefighters arrived.

“It was fully involved,” Wilson said.

Wilson said the home is a total loss, and the Red Cross has been notified to assist the owner.

Prospect, Butler Township, Connoquenessing Township, Portersville and Unionville fire departments worked about two hours to dowse the flames.

Wilson said while fighting the fire was difficult, no firefighters were hurt.

“The wind was howling across,” Wilson said, causing the flames to engulf the building quickly.

The chief said he suspects the fire's cause to be electric.
