Campaign Reports Commissioner candidates spent more than they raised in final weeks

In the weeks before the Nov. 3 election, the five candidates for Butler County commissioner spent more than they raised during that same time.

Republicans Leslie Osche and Kim Geyer, Democrats Jerry Johnston and Kevin Boozel, and the Green Party’s Michael Bagdes-Canning competed for the three county commissioner seats. Osche, Geyer and Boozel won.

Osche of Butler Township raised the most and spent the most. She raised $7,240 in the reporting period, and spent $10,800. She also brought nearly $9,000 forward from the previous reporting period.

Johnston spent the second most, $9,527, and most of it went to pay the campaign committee’s debt.

Boozel spent the least amount, $2,077, but he raised $3,305 during the period.

Osche and Geyer campaigned together sometimes, and a separate committee for both candidates raised $5,550 and spent $3,712.

The deadline to turn the reports in was Thursday, and the reports covered Oct. 20 to Nov. 23.
