Multiple Fairview Township residents continue to be under a boil water advisory.

The advisory was issued July 16 by the Petroleum Valley Water Authority, stemming from a problem at East Brady's water facility. Some of Fairview Township's residents, as well as some other county residents, received their own water from that facility.

“Do not drink the water without boiling it first,” said the notice. “Bring all water to a boil, let it boil for one minute and let it cool before using, or used bottled water.”

According to the advisory, the problem occurred in a faulty gas chlorine injector, which has been resolved. Despite the problem being fixed, the authority said the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system is still not working.

“The East Brady Borough's SCADA computer system failed to record continuous data from the online chlorine analyzer,” the advisory said. “The system is in need of repair.”

Messages to both the East Brady Borough office and the authority's parent company were not returned Wednesday.

It was unclear how many people have been affected by the advisory and how long it will remain.
