Fugitive arrested, returned to Butler
Lamont A. “Butt Butt” Franklin Jr. is behind bars following his arrest Saturday, after spending more than a year as a fugitive.
The 20-year-old allegedly tried to run from New Kensington Police shortly before his arrest.Franklin, who was listed as homeless but has known ties to Butler, was arraigned Sunday on three sets of charges, the latest being related to his fleeing from police. He has since been moved to Butler County Prison, where he remains on a combined bail amount of $150,000.Franklin has eluded police since he was charged in February 2020 in connection with a home invasion and burglary in Butler.According to charging documents, Franklin's arrest Saturday began with a 911 call around 6:34 p.m. to New Kensington Police.Police said when they arrived at the origin of the call, they found two men standing at the top of the stairs at an apartment building, yelling and beating on the door.According to police, officers instructed both men to walk down the stairs slowly with their hands up.“When both males reached the bottom of the stairs, they
