County's Alliance for Children plans move to Mahood Road
The nonprofit Butler County Alliance for Children will move from its location on East Jefferson Street to 101 Mahood Road.
The organization hasn’t determined when the move will be made.
The organization aims to help children and agencies to conduct interviews for allegations of child abuse and mistreatment for possible prosecution.
The center also helps provide assistance in the mental, emotional and physical recovery of child victims and their guardians, unless those guardians have abused the children.
The organization often hosts forensic interviews where authorities can interview children who have been abused. The center also helps raise awareness and educate the community about child abuse.
They also provide sexual and physical assault exams on site, a service that has been available since 2018. Before that, according to the organization’s website, families had to travel more than 90 minutes to get similar exams.
As the organization prepares to move, local artists Paul Means and Diane Smith have painted colorful murals in the new location. The murals depict nautical scenes, and also include characters from the children’s movie, “Finding Nemo.”
