Wendy Williams

LOS ANGELES — Wendy Williams is taking an extended break from her TV talk show to deal with health issues related to her immune system disorder, her family said Friday.

The family wrote in a statement that Williams has suffered complications from Graves' disease in the past few days.

Treatment is necessary and will include “significant time” in the hospital, according to the family statement provided by show producer and distributor Debmar-Mercury.

Graves' disease leads to the overproduction of thyroid hormones and can cause wide-ranging symptoms and affect overall health.

She is on the mend from another health problem, a shoulder fracture she suffered in December, the statement said.

Williams, 54, has a strong desire to return to work but must focus on her “personal and physical well-being,” the family said, adding a request that her privacy be respected. She is married to Kevin Hunter.

Repeats of “The Wendy Williams Show” will air during the week of Jan. 21 to 25, to be followed by original episodes with guest hosts.

The '90s were good to Caroline Rhea. That's when the Canadian actress-comedian not only was finding her way on the comedy circuit but also when she landed a role in the network comedy “Sabrina, the Teenage Witch” in 1996. That series left such a positive and lasting impression on a generation that Rhea still gets called Aunt Hilda by people on the street.

Now, the '90s are being good to her again. In the new Disney Channel series “Sydney to the Max,” Rhea gets to play both a cool modern day grandmother and, because the show takes place in both the present and in the early '90s, she also gets to portray a single mom.

The series revolves around outgoing middle schooler Sydney Reynolds (Ruth Righi) who lives with her protective single father (Ian Reed Kesler) and progressive grandmother Judy (Rhea). As events unfold in Sydney's life today, the parallels of what her father went through when he was her age are shown.
