Butler Township commissioners voted Monday to table a vote on a land development for the Butler High School classroom addition project.

Butler Area School District has been planning this project for years, in order to expand the high school to bring the ninth grade class in, according to Brian Slamecka, assistant superintendent of the school district.

However, the township commissioners asked that the developers get a stormwater management plan in place before they would approve the request.

The school district is working with project manager IKM and an engineer from Sheffler and Co. for the 19,000-square-foot addition, which will add 10 new classrooms to the high school, as well as a science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) space, with wood shops, 3D printers and additional technology.
