A-C Valley cancels classes again

FOXBURG, Clarion County — Allegheny-Clarion Valley School District canceled classes again Thursday due to a boil water advisory that has been in effect since Aug. 30.

Classes have been canceled every day since then, due to water line leaks and a pump failure in the Foxburg Water and Sewer Authority’s public water system.

Repairs have been made and the system has returned to normal operation, said Melanie Williams, spokesman for the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.

Water was trucked in and used to top off the authority’s water storage tank and stabilize the system, but water samples taken two consecutive days must be clean before the boil water advisory can be lifted, Williams said.

Samples were collected Tuesday and Wednesday, so the earliest the advisory could be lifted is Thursday if the results are within normal drinking water standards, she said.
