Boy, 10, accused of simple assault in fight

BUTLER TWP — A 10-year-old boy is accused of holding a box cutter to the neck of another boy during an altercation Tuesday night in Lyndora.

Butler Township police said the 12-year-old victim was not injured in the incident, which took place around 9 p.m. near Main and Division streets. The boy was charged in juvenile court with simple assault and reckless endangerment.

A call for youths fighting sent officers to the scene, where they learned of the incident with the utility knife. Police said the 10-year-old was apparently upset because he could not find the charger for his scooter.

The utility knife was recovered and the boy was later released to the custody of his family.

Police said they consulted with the Butler County District Attorney's Office before filing charges with juvenile court authorities.
