ADAMS TWP — Supervisors signed an agreement at their Monday board meeting to provide the Mars School District with police officers, who will be trained and hired by the township police department.

The deal between the district and the township would provide the school with two full-time officers from the police department to be permanently stationed in the schools for a cost of $150,000 per school year.

These will be supplemented by retired law enforcement officers, who will be hired by the district to provide added security.

The school board signed the agreement at a special meeting May 2.

The agreement begins July 1 and continues for one year. The school board and township supervisors again will meet in January to discuss what to do at the end of that period.

The police department is working to hire and train the two officers.

Developments approved

Supervisors also gave approval to two development plans.

Tentative approval was granted to the Meadow Point development following recommendation from the planning commission.

Meadow Point features 38 homes on 52 acres with two cul-de-sacs.

Supervisors also gave preliminary and final approval to plans for the new Grice Chiropractic office on Myoma Road.

The plans call for 11 parking spaces.

The lot currently contains a residential unit and driveway.

Supervisors also approved a variance permitting the developer to plant in a right away near the new building.
