Butler Health System has hired Michael Deitschmann as chief financial officer.

Deitschmann, who started Monday, previously worked for the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Fla., for more than 20 years in various financial and administrative positions. He spent the early years of his career in public accounting.

Deitschmann is a certified public accountant and has a master of business administration from Arizona State University and a bachelor of science in mass communications from Middle Tennessee State University.

He has served on various boards including the American Diabetes Association, American Lung Association and YMCA. He has participated in Junior Achievement and Big Brother/Big Sister programs.

Deitschmann is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives. He currently serves as treasurer of the North Florida Chapter of ACHE.

He is married with two children, a 23-year-old son and a 5-year-old son. He and his wife are in the process of moving to Butler County.
