Butler Township police have issued a reminder to residents about the burning of yard waste and leaves in the wake of numerous complaints the department has received about violations.

Police note that while burning is permitted through November, all fires must be watched at all times; all fires must be extinguished by 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday (no smoking or smoldering); and no burning of yard waste or leaves is permitted Sunday.

Police said they will be issuing citations for burning violations.
