Butler school board hears busing offers
Butler Area School Board was updated at Monday's meeting about offers for transit services.
The district received 11 five-year offers from area bus companies with A.J. Myers & Sons submitting the lowest bid of $27,403,059.
The next two lowest offers were Valley Lines at $28,941,059 and Student Transportation of American at $29,490,485.
The highest offer came from First Student at a five-year total of $37,624,118.
Superintendent Brian White said the submitted bids would have a higher annual cost than their current year.
Butler is currently under a three-year deal with Valley Lines. The amount of that contract was unavailable, according to the superintendent's office.
White said there are factors other than cost that could influence the final decision.
“I'm hoping to give another update in March,” White said.
